Kai Tak Sports Park chief executive Andrew Kam says as concert organisers become steeped in the possibilities afforded by the facility's bigger venue, they'll stage more shows – and tickets will be easier to come by.

His comments come amid complaints by some fans that they found it hard to secure seats for popular acts staged at the 50,000-capacity Kai Tak Stadium.

There are also concerns about ticket scalping, with some fans having to pay inflated prices on the secondary market.

Speaking on RTHK's "On Broadcast Drive" programme, Kam said many organisers are still getting used to the venue, so they're playing it safe with just a limited number of shows.

"The ticket shortage is really only an issue for big-name artists and popular shows," he said.

"The fix doesn't have to be a real-name system. The thing is, many organisers are still getting used to this venue – so they're only booking it for a day or two.

"If they were open to adding more shows, the ticket problem would pretty much go away."

Kam pointed out that some organisers need to set aside tickets for sponsors to help cover costs, but the government requires at least half of all tickets to be sold to the public.

He pointed out that compared with other venues, the sports park makes the most tickets available to the general public.

Kam said the upcoming event line-up for this year and next is set to be impressive as they feature global superstars such as BTS, BigBang, Charlie Puth and Post Malone.
