Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau has called on those who have not yet registered for the Electronic Health System (eHealth) to do so, with nearly 90 percent of the populace having joined.
Officiating at an event to mark the 10th anniversary of eHealth, he said the system was used in the early days of its launch in 2016 as a platform for private-sector doctors to access patients' public-sector healthcare records.
But it has allowed, over the past decade, the sharing of records to flow both ways.
Lo pointed out that 4,700 healthcare organisations, 63,000 healthcare providers and 6.5 million residents have already joined eHealth since its rollout.
“Over the past year, the amount of patients’ data that healthcare providers in the private sector have uploaded increased by 110 percent compared to the same period last year,” he said.
“This meant it has surged by more than two times.”
The health minister said the number of monthly usage of the system, which now covers 87 percent of the population, has exceeded 1.3 million.
Lo believes the number of registrants will exceed 90 percent in no time.
He also expects the upcoming seasonal vaccination programme to kick off early next month.
Starting in August, parents can submit electronic consent forms on the eHealth platform for their children to get inoculated, he said, adding that the move will boost efficiency.
