Chief Secretary Eric Chan said efforts by the current-term government in helping ethnic minorities, such as the setting up of dedicated care teams, have brought "real impact".

Speaking at the Carnival of Care and Harmony on Sunday, Chan said two more support service centres were established in 2024, raising the total to 10, with ethnic minority care teams operating at each centre.

"Each team is led by a social worker, supported by programme workers and volunteers who are familiar with the languages and cultures of the communities they serve," he said.

"Through proactive outreach – including home visits and community activities – they connect with ethnic minorities in need, assisting with everyday challenges and providing timely support during emergencies or unexpected incidents.

"In just over two years, these teams have reached some 18,000 ethnic minority households. That is real impact."

Looking ahead, the chief secretary said the government will continue its efforts in helping ethnic minorities better integrate into society.
