A taxi driver was killed in a three-vehicle collision in North Lantau on Tuesday evening.

At least nine others were injured in the crash on Cheung Tung Road at around 8pm.

The collision involved a taxi, a single-decker Discovery Bay bus and a truck.

Police said the taxi driver was trapped inside the vehicle before he was freed by emergency staff and rushed to the North Lantau Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A taxi passenger and eight people on the bus were injured.

The Transport Department said all lanes of Cheung Tung Road near Sunny Bay, as well as the airport-bound slow lane of the North Lantau Highway, were closed for traffic because of the accident.
