Police on Wednesday said the service weapon of an officer was accidentally discharged at a police base in Mong Kok.

No one was injured.

The incident happened at around 11pm on Tuesday at the West Kowloon Regional Emergency Unit base.

An officer from the unit was loading ammunition into his firearm when the weapon allegedly discharged a round.

Police said the force has strict regulations on the use of its equipment.

The case is being handled by the West Kowloon Regional Emergency Unit.
