China and the United States should earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, remove disruptions and overcome obstacles to high-level exchanges between the two countries, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

Wang made the remarks while meeting with David Perdue, ambassador of the United States to China, in Beijing on Wednesday.

The two countries should properly manage differences, he said, ahead ⁠of President Xi ⁠Jinping's expected US ⁠visit next month.

Wang said Sino-US relations still faced various risks and challenges and that Beijing ⁠and Washington should focus on a "positive agenda" and push bilateral ties in a stable, healthy and sustainable direction. (Xinhua/Reuters)
