The government announced on Friday solicitor Melissa Pang has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Board of Advisors, succeeding Lam Tai-fai.

Ten incumbent members have been reappointed, and two new members have been appointed to the board.

All appointments take effect on September 1, for a term of two years.

The newly appointed members are Chan Cho-biu and Li Tsz-shu.

"I believe that with Ms Pang's wealth of experience in public services, she will be able to lead the Board in offering invaluable advice to the Director of Broadcasting and assisting RTHK in fulfilling its missions and public objectives as set out in the Charter of RTHK," Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau said in a statement.

Yau also thanked Lam for his contributions as chairperson since 2020 as well as the two outgoing members Ronald Chiu and Thomas So for their six years of service on the board.
