Housing secretary Winnie Ho said on Friday 96.5 percent of Wang Fuk Court owners – or 1,914 households – had accepted the government's buyout offer as of Thursday, with the deadline for accepting the offer expiring at 5pm on August 31.

Writing on her social media page, Ho said the number of owners who had not yet returned their acceptance letter has now dropped to 70 – down from more than 100 on Monday.

She encouraged the remaining owners to sign and submit their acceptance letters before the deadline, warning they would otherwise miss the opportunity to participate in the government's long-term housing arrangements for Wang Fuk Court.

Ho said the Housing Bureau will conduct computer random sorting in batches for owners who participate in the "special sales exercise", based on replies received by June 30 and by August 31 respectively.

The bureau will proceed with sale arrangements under the exercise next month, including notifying owners of their sorting results by post.

Owners will be invited to select flats in batches of about 50 to 80 households per day starting by the end of September.
