Chief Executive John Lee said on Saturday HK$50 million from the Disaster Relief Fund has been earmarked for those affected by the mudslide at Gyirong Port in the Xizang Autonomous Region.
In a social media post, Lee said he was deeply saddened by the number of casualties and missing persons in the disaster.
Expressing his condolences, he said the fund's advisory committee would handle the funding application in a prompt manner.
Lee also extended his gratitude to frontline rescuers and wished timely support for those affected by the disaster.
