President Xi Jinping said Tuesday that China stands ready to deepen its comprehensive strategic partnership with Egypt.
Xi made the remarks in a signed article published in Egyptian media outlets ahead of his state visit to the African nation.
In the article, Xi called on China and Egypt to enhance mutual trust and set an example of carrying forward friendship.
The two sides should continue supporting each other on core interests and major concerns, and deepen exchanges and cooperation at various levels and across all sectors to ensure that the baton of friendship is passed on from generation to generation, he said.
The two countries should pursue mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, and set a benchmark for joint development, Xi said.
Both sides should forge greater synergy in development strategies, engage in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, proactively tap the potential and expand the scope of pragmatic collaboration to provide sustained impetus to the mutually beneficial cooperation, he noted.
China and Egypt, Xi said, should move forward side by side, and be pioneers in upholding fairness and justice.
As both major developing countries and important Global South nations, China and Egypt should vigorously uphold world peace and stability, and international fairness and justice by practising true multilateralism, enhancing multilateral coordination, and working together to deliver on the four global initiatives on development, security, civilisation and governance, he noted.
The two countries should stand united and work together to steer China-Arab and China-Africa cooperation, Xi said, expressing China's readiness to work with the Egyptian side to enhance the demonstration effect of their well-established cooperation,
Beijing, the president added, is also ready to leverage Egypt's unique location to link the Arab world and reach across the African continent, further implement the proposal to build "five cooperation frameworks" between China and Arab states and follow up on the 10 partnership actions for modernisation between China and Africa.
Xi will travel to Egypt after a state visit to Kyrgyzstan, where he also attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit. (Xinhua/Additional reporting by RTHK)
