Former activist Joshua Wong pleaded guilty in court on Wednesday to the charge of collusion with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security.

The prosecution told the High Court that Wong and Nathan Law had reached an agreement in 2016 to achieve political goals through "international lobbying".

The court heard that before the enactment of the homegrown National Security Law, Wong and Law had requested foreign institutions, organisations, and individuals to impose sanctions or take other hostile actions against the SAR and China.

The prosecution said that after the implementation of the National Security Law, Wong continued to support such efforts through foreign media and social media platforms.

In mitigation, the defence lawyer said Wong has been in jail since he was 24 and is now almost 30.

The lawyer said that, excluding the current case, Wong was already serving a sentence that would run until January 2027.

He urged the court to set a lower starting point for Wong's sentence.

The case has been adjourned to a later date for sentencing.
