This year's National Day fireworks display will feature various patterns of the sun, as it marks the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The 23-minute show will be divided into eight segments, involving over 30,000 firing shells in the skies above the Victoria Harbour at 8pm on October 1.

The theme this year is "Eternal Radiance Fireworks in Bloom, Illuminating our Country"

Wilson Mao, the CEO of Pyromagic Multimedia Productions, said that the second scene is the highlight of the show, showcasing variations in the pattern of the sun to symbolise warmth, energy, and hope.

"Almost every scene this year features messages related to the sun. As for shapes, we also have many different ones. We have smiley faces, heart and also yellow five-pointed stars. These are elements of the National Day celebration,” he said.

Viewers can tune in to RTHK Radio 4 for synchronised music during the show.

The fireworks display is estimated to cost about HK$18 million, similar to last year's expenditure.
