Former chief executive Tung Chee-hwa has died at the age of 89.
His office said Tung passed away peacefully on Tuesday, surrounded by family members.
The statement added that he dedicated his life to serving the nation, and his legacy lives on.
Tung served as the SAR's first chief executive from 1997 to 2005.
He later served as vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
