The Hong Kong and Shenzhen governments on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding and several bilateral agreements covering areas such as finance, innovation and technology, and support services for enterprises going global.

Chief Executive John Lee and Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, Jin Lei, witnessed the signings at Government House, where they also exchanged views on deepening cooperation between the two cities.

Welcoming Jin's visit, Lee noted that Hong Kong and Shenzhen have long maintained close economic and trade ties, as well as people-to-people exchange.

Lee added that both cities will continue to collaborate to drive the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Shenzhen is set to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' meeting in November, with the event to be preceded by the APEC Finance Ministers' meeting in Hong Kong the previous month.

The CE pledged to spare no effort to ensure the success of that event to further deepen international exchanges, and better serve national development.

Also at the meeting on Thursday were Chief Secretary Eric Chan, Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau, and Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Janice Tse.
