Hong Kong's first chief executive Tung Chee-hwa will receive a public memorial ceremony on Sunday, with a vigil to be held the night before, according to the funeral committee.

The committee said the vigil will take place on Saturday from 3pm to 10pm at the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North Point. The public memorial service will begin at 9am on Sunday.

The funeral committee is headed by Politburo member and Organisation Department chief of the Communist Party of China Shi Taifeng. The four deputy directors of the committee are Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) vice-chairman and former chief executive CY Leung, CPPCC secretary-general Wang Dongfeng, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office director Xia Baolong, and current Chief Executive John Lee.

Tung died on September 8, aged 89.

Meanwhile, the Jockey Club said it would cancel all horse racing at the Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday as a mark of respect.
