The MTR will extend services across several lines on Friday and over the weekend to cater for Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations.

Service hours for most railway lines and the Light Rail on Friday will be extended by around an hour and a half, with last trains departing after 1am or 2am the following day depending on the route.

Police have also announced special traffic arrangements across parts of Hong Kong Island and the New Territories on Friday to manage the festive crowds.

To accommodate the Tai Hang fire dragon dance, roads in the area will be closed in phases from 2pm until midnight.

Several roads in Causeway Bay will be designated as pedestrian zones, with police warning that further closures may be needed depending on crowd and traffic conditions.

Meanwhile, a number of roads in Aberdeen and Pok Fu Lam will be closed for the Pok Fu Lam fire dragon dance.

Additional road closures will take effect near the Peak, the Gold Coast in Tuen Mun, as well as around Tai Mo Shan and Shing Mun Reservoir in Tsuen Wan.

The Transport Department said a total of 44 bus routes and 14 green minibus routes will be diverted with certain bus stops temporarily relocated due to road closures and traffic diversion.

Members of the public are advised to monitor the latest traffic updates via the department's website, the HKeMobility mobile app, or media broadcasts.

The Observatory expects cloudy periods with light to moderate easterly winds on Friday night, adding that the full moon is expected just before 1am on Sunday.
