Power supplier HK Electric announced on Friday a decrease to the fuel clause charge by 1.4 cents, bringing it down to 59.3 cents per unit of electricity for October.

Together with the basic tariff, the average net tariff next month will be 187.2 cents per unit of electricity, a 0.8 percent decrease from this month.

A spokesperson for the company said the adjustment reflects fuel costs incurred between June and August, and the charge will continue to depend on trends in international fuel prices.

The company added it would closely monitor developments in the global energy markets.

The city’s other power firm CLP, meanwhile, announced a raise in the fuel clause charge by 1.1 cents per unit of electricity next month, with the net tariff reaching 147.4 cents per unit.
