The Hospital Authority (HA) announced on Monday that Kai Tak Hospital will begin operation in phases from October 5, gradually absorbing clinical services provided at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and assuming the role as Kowloon's public healthcare hub.

The Family Medicine Integrated Centre will begin operation on October 5, providing around 250 quotas per day during the initial stage. Patients can make an appointment through the HA's mobile app "HA Go" or over the phone from October 4.

From late October, specialist out-patient services of the medicine, surgery, neurosurgery and clinical oncology departments at Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be transferred to Kai Tak in batches.

The second phase, slated for 2028, will add major clinical services such as in-patient, surgical, and the accident and emergency unit.

The HA will deploy service ambassadors around the hospital in the initial phase to give directions and handle enquiries.

Patients who have scheduled appointments at Kai Tak Hospital will also receive reminders via mail, SMS messages and the "HA Go" app.
