An owners’ corporation in North Point was fined HK$149,000 at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts on Monday for violating safety regulations over the deadly fall of a worker who had been pruning a tree.
The man, who was working at Kingsfield Garden in July last year, fell about 1.2 metres from the top of a parapet wall at the car park.
He was sent to hospital with a head injury in a conscious state, but passed away two weeks later.
The court ruled that the incorporated owners of the residential building had violated the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance after the Labour Department launched a prosecution.
