Police on Tuesday laid a holding charge of murder against a foreign domestic helper on suspicion of killing the elderly woman she had been caring for.
She is due to appear at the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts on Wednesday.
The suspect, 52, and the victim, 93, lived in a public housing unit at Tak Long Estate in Kai Tak.
According to police, the helper went to her building's security guard for assistance at around 8.20am on Sunday, saying the elderly woman was unresponsive.
The woman was declared dead within an hour of being taken to hospital.
Police said video footage seized on Monday showed the victim came under attack multiple times from 8am on Sunday.
The helper allegedly struck her about 20 times with her bare hands – targeting her neck, head and face, among other areas.
