Police said they have arrested three men for allegedly conspiring to wound with intent in a case that might involve illicit fuel activity.
Officers were alerted by staff at Tseung Kwan O Hospital in the early hours last Thursday that a 35-year-old light goods vehicle driver – who sought treatment at the hospital – suffered knife wounds.
Speaking in a media briefing on Tuesday, inspector Fong Miu-kwan said preliminary investigations revealed that he was attacked on Chun Yat Street at Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate.
Fong said authorities found 120 litres of suspected illicit fuel in his vehicle.
The three suspects are aged 16 to 19 with suspected triad background.
“According to the police investigation, the place where the incident occurred – Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate – has seen illicit fuel activities in the past," Fong said.
"Police have not ruled out the possibility that the wounding case was linked to a dispute over illicit fuel transactions.”
In a separate case, authorities found 750 litres of suspected illicit diesel in a medium goods vehicle as part of their campaign against illegal fuel activity at Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate, and a 25-year-old driver is suspected of involvement.
