Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tianjin Haihe Media Group, in a bid to boost bilateral collaboration in areas such as talent exchange and events.

The MoU was signed during a four-day trip by Director of Broadcasting Angelina Kwan to the mainland, which ended on Wednesday.

During the trip, Kwan, as well as participants of RTHK's national studies programme, called on the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, and met Deputy Director Zhang Dongmei.

Kwan also visited the National Radio and Television Administration and the Beijing Radio and Television Station to explore opportunities for strengthening exchange and co-operation.

On Tuesday, Kwan signed an MoU with Tianjin Haihe Media Group President Ma Bo. The two sides agreed to establish a framework for bilateral collaboration spanning programme resources, talent exchanges, co-operation on platform and copyright licensing, as well as on-ground events.

RTHK said the the partnership will facilitate the distribution of its content to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, while enabling Tianjin Haihe Media Group's productions to reach international audiences through RTHK's platforms.

RTHK has signed MoUs with eight mainland and overseas media organisations so far this year.

"By building a growing network of broadcaster partnerships and deepening collaboration on an ongoing basis, RTHK is giving concrete expression to its strategic commitment to leveraging Hong Kong's unique role as a connector between the Chinese mainland and the wider world, thereby enhancing Hong Kong's international communication capacity and sharing the stories of the nation and Hong Kong on the global stage," a statement read.
