Nine tourist hotspots unveiled to showcase 'flavour' of HK

A government working group has unveiled the first batch of tourist attractions earmarked under a development blueprint aimed at luring visitors away from the traditional sightseeing hotspots. Under the so-called "tourism is everywhere" concept, visitors will soon be able to step inside the popular old Yau Ma Tei police station, take an in-depth tour of Kowloon City, or get out to the countryside. Cultural tourism ideal for Kowloon City: district councillor

A Kowloon City district councillor says government plans to boost in-depth tourism in the neighbourhood can target visitors interested in culture and history. Rizwan Ullah also says it's important to promote cultural tourism. Developing the district is part of nine projects set to be launched from this quarter, to attract more tourists to Hong Kong. For Kowloon City, it will feature iconic scenes from the hit movie "Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In", while allowing visitors to re-live the old days through augmented reality technology. HK's jobless rate worsens, but govt upbeat

Police to use drones for patrols in pilot scheme

Police say drones will be deployed for daily patrols at the Border District and Kowloon West Region starting Friday, marking the launch of a pilot programme aimed at advancing digital policing through innovative technology. The three-month initiative also seeks to streamline frontline officer deployment and boost operational efficiency. Audible traffic signals to get facelift

UN still awaiting clearance for Gaza aid

The United Nations says no aid has yet been distributed in the Gaza Strip. That's a day after Israel allowed limited humanitarian deliveries to resume after an 11-week blockade on the Palestinian enclave. Israel has said its blockade is aimed in part at preventing militants from diverting and seizing the supplies - a claim Hamas has already denied. EU and Britain slap new sanctions against Russia

The European Union and Britain have announced new sanctions against Russia. The move comes a day after a phone call between the leaders of the United States and Russia failed to produce a breakthrough on ending the three-year-old-war in Ukraine. The sanctions were unveiled without an immediate announcement of corresponding steps from Washington, despite public lobbying from European leaders for the Trump administration to join them. CATL shares surge 16 percent on debut

Shares of mainland battery giant CATL were up 16 percent at HK$306.2 per share on its Hong Kong stock market debut on Tuesday. The listing is the world's largest this year, raising over 35 billion dollars. The Fujian-based firm produces over a third of electric vehicle batteries sold globally. Chloe Feng reports:
