Third Side lawmaker Tik Chi-yuen has expressed concerns that the revamp of the district councils will leave them as "cheerleading teams" for the government and that they will struggle to convey the views of the people of Hong Kong. But the justice secretary said their role was not to monitor the government. Mike Weeks reports:
Man arrested over elderly security guard's death  Listenfacebook
Police have reclassified a case, involving the death of an elderly security guard in Sha Tin on Sunday, as manslaughter and possession of dangerous drugs. A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the case, which had earlier been logged as person collapsed. Police also searched the arrested man's car. Mike Weeks reports:
Educators nervous about abuse reporting law  Listenfacebook
Rights advocacy groups and educators have urged the government to make children's feelings and perspectives a key priority as it finalises details of legislation that will require professionals who work with children to report suspected abuse cases. This came at a meeting organised by the DAB party on the law. The Undersecretary for Labour and Welfare, Ho Kai-ming, said authorities would submit the bill to Legco before the end of next month, as Ada Au reports:

Anthea Lee, the chief executive of the Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, has welcomed the abuse reporting legislation. But she told Ada Au that implementation details needed to be carefully drafted to protect vulnerable children:

The Commissioner for Transport, Rosanna Law, says around 16 percent of drivers who passed through the tunnels where HKeToll came into operation on Sunday did not have a tag for automatic payment of the toll. As of 5pm, more than 25,300 vehicles passed through the Tsing Sha control area, with more than 4,000 without vehicle tags. The chief executive of the Hong Kong Automobile Association has welcomed the government’s new e-toll system, but said authorities should do more promotion as many drivers still have not signed up to e-toll tags. Owen Chan said association members liked the system, which improved traffic flow as drivers need not stop at toll booths to pay. He spoke to Janice Wong:

The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung, says it is time for sports authorities to impose an appropriate penalty on the Hong Kong Ice Hockey Association over an anthem blunder and to draw a line under the row. He spoke a day after the vice-president of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee made a similar appeal, as Vanessa Cheng reports:

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Chris Sun, says employers must reach agreement with workers on rosters that do not give staff at least one day off each week. Gene therapy facility will help HK become biotech hub  Listenfacebook
Hong Kong's first manufacturing base for cell and gene therapy products should set the city on the path to becoming an international biotechnology hub. That's according to Gina Jiang, the managing director of the Hong Kong Institute of Biotechnology. Its facility - The Advanced Therapy Products Good Manufacturing Practice Centre - will officially open in the middle of next month, jointly-established by the Chinese University and the Hong Kong Science Technology Park. Jiang told Janice Wong that globally, there were around 60,000 patients in clinical trials for cell and gene therapies and the bottleneck for treatments was manufacturing capacity:

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett says executives who led the US banking system into crisis should face “punishment”. He was speaking at Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholder meeting, criticising politicians, regulators and the press about the handling of the recent failures of Silicon Valley Bank, Signature Bank and First Republic Bank. RTHK's US economics correspondent, Barry Wood, told Samantha Butler more about Buffett's comments:

King's coronation concludes with star-studded concert  Listenfacebook
A concert featuring pop, opera and ballet - to celebrate the coronation of King Charles the Third - has wrapped up at Windsor Castle in England. Street parties were also held after Saturday's solemn ceremony, the first coronation the country has seen in 70 years. RTHK's UK correspondent, Gavin Grey, said initial figures showed over 20 million people in the UK tuned in to the coronation broadcast - lower than the number who watched the Queen's funeral. But he told Samantha Butler that the coronation events were warmly received by the public:
