Police have alerted the public to a fake version of the force's anti-scam mobile application. As Elvis Yu reports, they say fraudsters have tried to use it to pose as officers to trick individuals into handing over their personal details and money:

Unionist lawmakers say the government is not going far enough to combat a rising tide of credit card fraud, saying regulations introduced last month have failed to tackle the problem. The Federation of Trade Unions says more and more cases now involve scammers taking stolen card information and linking it to a mobile app to carry out transactions. Under regulations issued by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority last month, banks must now require an additional level of authentication before connecting a card to an app. But the FTU's Bill Tang told Vanessa Cheng that more could be done to protect credit cardholders:

The government has accused some people of “vilifying” its organ donation system and a plan to facilitate cross-border organ matching, after its organ donation register saw a substantial surge in withdrawals. The Centralised Organ Donation Register recorded nearly 5,800 withdrawal applications over a five-month period from December, which is significantly higher than past figures. Wendy Wong reports:

The government has promised to consider suggestions for amending the operating agreements with the SAR's power companies to ensure they do not profit from disruptions that they are responsible for. This came after lawmakers urged the administration to rethink how it holds them to account after last month's power outage on the Island provided Hong Kong Electric with an opportunity to increase its profits. Animal rights campaigner, Fiona Woodhouse, says she is hopeful that a government proposal to massively increase fines for illegally feeding wild animals will be effective in deterring repeat offenders. The government has proposed amending the Wild Animals Protection Ordinance, to raise the maximum penalty from $10,000 to $100,000 and a one-year imprisonment. A fixed penalty of $5,000 is also being proposed. The amendments will also cover illegal feeding of feral pigeons. Dr Woodhouse from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals told Janice Wong that the problem was widespread, and caused environmental damage while harming animals:

A children's rights group says it is launching a football training programme for hundreds of low-income schoolchildren that is designed to help improve their mental health. Save the Children Hong Kong says its Play to Thrive programme is aimed at reversing the impact of three years of disruption throughout the Covid pandemic. Organisers of a petition against the proposed doubling of ferry fares to Lamma have gathered the signatures of more than 500 of the island's residents. The Transport and Logistics Bureau revealed last month that it was considering a request from Hong Kong and Kowloon Ferry Limited for a 100 percent increase in the cost of trips on the two routes it operates between Lamma and Central. Submitting the petition to the government, one of the organisers, Caan Chui, told Vanessa Cheng that they want answers about the ferry company's plans and sustainability:

Portuguese police will resume searching a reservoir inland from where a three-year-old British toddler, Madeleine McCann, disappeared in 2007. It is the first formal development in the case in several years.
