The SAR's women's team lifted the trophy after beating Chinese Taipei in the final. Hong Kong dominated the match in Tseung Kwan O, winning 14-6.

Co-captain Sally Tang scored three times in the opening seven minutes. She was named Most Valuable Player after finishing the tournament with 25 goals.

“What I remember was me trying to focus on the game and on every play, talk to my teammates, see all the options, and also try to ignore the fact that we are on live TV, and that there’s a bigger audience than usual,” she said.

“But I guess more importantly, trying to get into the flow state and do what I’ve been doing as an attacker and just keep attacking.”

The team’s other co-captain, Daphne Li, said she hopes the victory will encourage younger generations to join the sport.

“It shows everyone that women are also strong, powerful, and can achieve a lot on the sports field. And I think it breaks the more traditional gender stereotypes that females should be a certain way,” she said.

“To the future younger generations that want to take up lacrosse as a sport, we hope that lacrosse will play a major role in their lives as it did for Sally and I. Playing lacrosse will help shape them into a strong independent person and of course lacrosse will help you meet great friends that you will have in your life forever.”

However, there was disappointment for Hong Kong in the men's tournament.

The hosts blew a two-goal lead against Team FOGO from Japan, who won the final 6-5 in overtime.
