Eight-time Ballon D'Or winner Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami teammates will play a pre-season friendly in Hong Kong in February, organisers announced on Friday, as part of the club's first-ever international tour.
Miami will take on a team comprised of the best players in the Hong Kong Premier League on February 4, at the 40,000-capacity Hong Kong Stadium.
"We're very excited to be visiting Hong Kong and indeed Asia for the very first time," explained Jorge Mas, Inter Miami CF Managing Owner.
"From the very beginning we set out to be a global club at Inter Miami. This is a wonderful opportunity to do just that; we hope to enthuse and inspire new Inter Miami fans in Hong Kong and across Asia who share our passion for football."
“Hong Kong is a beautiful city with a great sports scene,” said Inter Miami CF Co-Owner, David Beckham, who himself played in Hong Kong in 2008 in a friendly with then-club LA Galaxy.
“Throughout my career, I have spent a lot of time in Asia – I am so pleased to have the opportunity to bring Inter Miami to play our first international tour match in this fantastic city.”
Tickets for the game, which will range from HK$880 to HK$4,880, will go on sale on a travel website from December 15.
Inter Miami will also take part in an open training session the day before the friendly, and tickets for that will cost between HK$580 to HK$780.
