The Hong Kong Streetathon was held on Sunday with runners in the main marathon event racing between Island Eastern Corridor and San Shan Road in To Kwa Wan, via the Eastern Harbour Tunnel.
Other events included a half marathon and a 10-kilometre run.
Organisers said 19,000 runners took part.
The Transport Department closed roads along the route and is advising drivers to avoid affected areas to prevent congestion.
The races aim to promote health, while raising money for charity. Participants include elite athletes, as well as people just running for fun.
The main marathon event started at 5am.
Road closures on Hong Kong Island included eastbound sections of Lung Wo Road and the Central-Wan Chai Bypass, Island Eastern Corridor, and the Kowloon-bound tube of the Eastern Harbour Crossing.
In Kowloon, westbound parts of the East Kowloon Corridor and Kai Tak Tunnel were closed, as well as the eastbound section of the Kwun Tong Bypass, Hoi Bun Road, Cha Ling Road, and roads in the Kowloon Bay area.
The eastbound sections of Tseung Lam Highway and Wan O Road in Tseung Kwan O were also closed.
