Hong Kong fencer Edgar Cheung is once again the world number one in men's foil, after previously claiming the top spot in April 2022.

The 26-year-old topped the rankings with 200,000 points, followed by Marini Tommaso from Italy and Hamza Mohamed from Egypt.

Sports minister Kevin Yeung congratulated the Olympic fencing gold medallist, noting that he has “added another remarkable page” to the fencing history of the SAR.

“We are so thrilled by his achievement and all citizens in Hong Kong are proud of him,” he wrote in a statement.
