A win over the Philippines in an international friendly on Thursday has given the Hong Kong, China team momentum in the bid to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals.

The 3-1 victory in front of a raucous 5,000-strong crowd at the Hong Kong Stadium was the second consecutive win for the SAR under new head coach Ashley Westwood.

A brilliant goal by forward Matt Orr put the home team ahead in the 44th minute.

Orr's one-two on the left side of the box with Kitchee striker Juninho opened up a chance for him to score on the left side.

The visitors equalised shortly after the break, with Bjørn Kristensen netting in an acrobatic finish in the 48th minute.

The SAR then scored two late goals to clinch victory.

Lee Man winger Everton Camargo's 83rd-minute strike put Hong Kong up 2-1.

The 33-year-old Brazilian was also involved in the third goal, floating in a free kick to Orr who headed home.

Up next for Hong Kong is another international friendly – against Mauritius on November 19 at the Mong Kok Stadium.
