The Hong Kong, China men's football team will kick off the final round of their campaign for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup when they travel to Singapore in March following Monday’s draw for qualification to the continental showpiece in Saudi Arabia.
The SAR were drawn in Group C, which also features India and Bangladesh. Only the winners from each of the six groups earn a spot.
Hong Kong will begin their qualifying campaign by playing Singapore away on March 25, and India on June 10.
These qualifiers will be the final chance for 24 teams to secure the final six spots, with the SAR being drawn in a tight and extremely competitive group.
Singapore are currently ranked 161 in the world, and are also gearing up to take on Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste in the Asean Championships being played across Southeast Asia this month.
Meanwhile, India – who qualified for the 2023 edition of the AFC Asian Cup in Qatar but finished bottom of their group – are ranked 127th.
Bangladesh, ranked 185th, has also shown rapid improvement in their level of play in recent times.
