Shenzhen Bay Port will suspend its clearance services on Sunday for the cross-boundary marathon test event of the National Games.
The port will be closed from 2am to 11am, with no passengers or vehicles allowed during this period.
The closure also affects the Shenzhen Bay Bridge, Kong Sham Western Highway and Ha Tsuen Interchange.
Cross-boundary coach services, franchised buses, minibuses and taxis via the port will also be suspended during the time frame.
Travellers are advised to use alternative control points, including Lok Ma Chau, Heung Yuen Wai, and Man Kam To.
The Transport Department recommended using the East Rail Line or taking KMB routes B1 and B9 to reach these checkpoints.
"Passengers [should] use public transport services as much as possible and avoid driving to cross boundary ports during the test event period to avoid traffic congestion and unnecessary delays," it said.
The Hong Kong section of the marathon is about 21 kilometres in total.
The athletes will run for two kilometres in Shenzhen before entering Hong Kong through the Shenzhen Bay Port.
They will run along the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor towards the south until they get to the turning point.
The women’s race begins at 7am while the men’s race starts half an hour later.
