The president of the Peking Union Medical College Hospital on Tuesday said she hopes the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) will fully consider its plan to set up the SAR's third medical school.
Zhang Shuyang, a member of the National People's Congress, told RTHK that the hospital has worked with the institution on technology and technological research.
Both parties also cooperate on medical projects, medical education and training for doctors, she said.
But Zhang said she was unaware of HKUST's plan to start a medical school.
She said she hopes the university will conduct research on its proposal.
HKUST's president Nancy Ip revealed earlier that research and technology would be a focus of the medical school.
