China wants to achieve a "fair, lasting and binding peace agreement" acceptable to all parties on the Ukraine war, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday.
"Everyone hopes to achieve a fair, lasting, binding peace agreement that every side can accept," Wang told reporters during an annual press conference on the sidelines of the Two Sessions in Beijing.
"China is willing to cooperate with the international community in accordance with the wishes of relevant parties to achieve a final resolution of the crisis and lasting peace, and will continue to play a constructive role."
Wang added that "conflict has no winners, and peace has no losers".
Meanwhile, the foreign minister said ties with Russia were a "constant in a turbulent world" as he addressed the press conference.
"A mature, resilient, and stable China-Russia relationship will not change due to temporary events, nor will it be disrupted by third-party interference," Wang said.
On the Middle East, Wang called for a "lasting ceasefire" between Hamas and Israel in Gaza.
"If major powers genuinely care about the people of Gaza, they should promote a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and increase humanitarian assistance," Wang said.
He said China supports a plan by Egypt and other Arab countries to rebuild and restore peace in Gaza. (Agencies)
