Hong Kong, China's Coleman Wong made a stunning main-draw debut at the Cincinnati Masters, defeating world number 43 Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard of France in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Ranked 168th in the world, Wong reached the main draw after battling through qualifiers. The 21-year-old overcame higher-ranked opponents Juan Manuel Cerundolo of Argentina and Japan's Shintaro Mochizuki to earn his spot in the round of 128.
Wong fired 21 winners and six aces en route to his 55-minute victory.
"I was watching some of my opponent's earlier matches, his serve is incredible, fastest I've ever faced. This was an important match for me, and I'm very happy to gain the victory," Wong said after the match.
"This was my second time winning in the main draw of a Masters 1000 event, and it felt just as great compared to the first one. Being able to perform at a high level at these big events is what excites me and gives me the most satisfaction."
Wong advances to the round of 64, where he faces another Frenchman, Ugo Humbert.
Another victory would have matched his feat at the Miami Masters in March, where he reached the third round after beating newly-crowned Canadian Open champion Ben Shelton.
