Hong Kong, China paddlers Wong Chun-ting and Baldwin Chan claimed the men’s doubles title at the World Table Tennis Europe Smash tournament in Sweden.

The SAR pair faced a tough battle against the national team duo of Lin Shidong and Huang Youzheng in a five-game thriller.

The mainland pair, seeded third in the tournament, started strong by taking the first game 11-7.

Wong and Chan fought back to win the second game 11-9, but momentum continued to shift as both sides each took one more game to bring the match to a decisive fifth game.

The SAR pair took an early 2-1 lead in the decider and held on to it until the end, clinching the match with a final score of 7-11, 11-9, 4-11, 11-6, 11-8.
