SAR athletes have returned home in triumph, after capturing three gold, two silver and one bronze medals at the Chengdu 2025 World Games -- the best-ever result in the SAR's history at the event.

The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China hosted a special welcome ceremony to celebrate the team’s success.

Wong Po-kee, the delegation's chef de mission and honorary deputy secretary general of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, said he is incredibly proud of the athletes’ achievements.

"I would like to once again congratulate our athletes, and I hope that in the future we can continue to provide sustained support for our athletes."

Wushu athlete Anthony Yeung, who won gold in the Taijiquan - Taijijian combined event, said he's grateful for everybody's support.

"Actually, I don't think this success belongs to me alone, because I've had so much support from many people behind the scenes, which allowed me to fully focus on warming up and competing," he told RTHK.

"I remember one time we had a competition in the evening, and we needed to be at the venue by 5pm to warm up. However, we had no idea how we could have dinner. We immediately reached out to the delegation for help. After their arrangement, we had food by 5.30pm. This is very important for athletes."

Yeung said he’s looking to build on his success at the 17th World Wushu Championships, which will be held in Brazil next week.
