Hong Kong, China tennis star Coleman Wong on Thursday was eliminated early at the Chengdu Open, losing in straight sets to Japanese veteran Taro Daniel at the Sichuan International Centre.
Wong, who entered the ATP 250 tournament fresh off of leading the SAR to a historic Davis Cup upset against Uzbekistan last Sunday, fell 3-6, 2-6 in one hour and 21 minutes to his 168th-ranked opponent.
For Daniel, his triumph over Wong marked his first victory on the tour since last year's Shanghai Open.
