Hong Kong, China got on the medal table at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, with Adrian Au claiming a bronze in the boy's 1,500 metres.
The 16-year-old from Diocesan Boys' School crossed the line in 4:05.09, a near two-second improvement from his personal best of 4:06.99 achieved at the All China Youth Athletics Championships in Hubei back in June.
Sri Lanka's Lahiru Achintha took gold in 3:57.42, while China's Sha Lihua finished 1.3 seconds behind for silver.
"Au gave his all in the competition and distinguished himself in the intense race with his determination, bringing home the bronze and first medal for Hong Kong at the Asian Youth Games," said Philip Mok, honorary deputy secretary general of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China.
"This achievement reflects the perseverance and exceptional potential of our young athletes," he added. "We look forward to seeing them continue to perform at their best in upcoming events and deliver outstanding results."
The third edition of the quadrennial competition runs until next Friday, with the SAR represented by 90 athletes across 14 sports.
