Hong Kong, China, table tennis duo Wong Chun-ting and Doo Hoi-kam captured their first WTT Star Contender mixed doubles title on Sunday in Doha.

Seeded second, the SAR pair secured the championship with a 3-1 victory over South Korea’s Park Gang-hyeon and Kim Na-yeong in the final.

After dropping a tight opening game 9-11, the Hong Kong team, ranked fifth in the world, rallied to claim the next three games 11-8, 11-9, 11-5.

The title marks a strong start to the new competitive season for the SAR pair.

En route to the final, they overcame competitors from Singapore in the semifinals, China in the quarterfinals and Egypt in the round of 16.
