Hong Kong is set to send its largest-ever delegation to the Winter Olympic Games, with four athletes ready to compete in the upcoming event in Italy this month, officials said on Monday.

At a flag presentation ceremony, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law presented the SAR flag to the contingent heading to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

“Team Hong Kong, China will be sending representatives for the seventh consecutive time to the Winter Olympics,” Law said.

“We are sending four athletes to compete in short track speed skating and alpine skiing. Among them, we have experienced veterans as well as first-time competitors.”

She encouraged the team to strive for their personal best and chase their dreams on the global stage, and reaffirmed the SAR government’s commitment to supporting athletes with comprehensive resources.

The delegation features short track speed skaters Kwok Tsz-fung and Joey Lam, and alpine skiers Adrian Yung and Eloise King.

King said she is excited to be competing against the world’s top athletes.

“We’ve all worked so hard for this experience and I just want to soak up every single moment of the Olympic Games and just enjoy myself as well,” she said.

Kwok aims to perform at his peak and complete his two individual events flawlessly, while Lam plans to draw on her experience from last year’s Asian Games in Harbin.

Edgar Yang, honorary secretary general of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, highlighted the city’s alignment with the nation’s initiative of “engaging 300 million people in winter sports”, noting the Games reflect Hong Kong’s active integration into the nation’s winter sports development.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will run from February 6 to 22, featuring 16 sports and about 2,900 athletes from more than 90 countries and regions.
