Hong Kong, China shuttlers Jordan Tang and Tse Ying-suet continued to progress at the All England Open, while the men's duo of Angus Ng and Lee Cheuk-yiu were sent packing on Thursday.

Tang and Tse, seeded seventh in the mixed doubles competition, are now in the quarter-final after their last-16 opponents retired.

The duo won the first game 21-19 against Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto, with the pair from India eventually withdrawing midway through the second game, 40 minutes after the match began.

This marked the third time Tang and Tse have reached the last eight in Birmingham. They will have a chance to advance to the semi-final for the first time, if they beat Denmark's Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch early Saturday morning, Hong Kong time.

Two remaining SAR entrants bowed out, however.

Angus Ng fell in a three-game thriller to India's Lakshya Sen 19-21, 23-21 and 10-21 in one hour and 21 minutes.

Also in the men's singles last 16, Lee Cheuk-yiu was eliminated by Canada's Victor Lai in straight games.

The All England Open runs until Sunday at Birmingham's Utilita Arena.
