Hong Kong, China tennis star Coleman Wong defeated another top-100 player to make it into the quarter-finals of the Republica Dominicana Open in Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic.
The 21-year-old SAR sensation bested third-seeded and World No. 64 Damir Džumhur from Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, serving up eight aces and winning 72 percent of first-serve points.
The city's tennis star will next face another top-100 player, Belgium’s Alexander Blockx, at 2am Hong Kong time on Saturday.
Wong, currently at a career-best World No. 123, entered the tournament’s main draw as a lucky loser in the qualifying rounds.
He defeated World No. 98 Roman Andres Burruchaga from Argentina in the opening round of 32.
