Kitchee have been crowned Hong Kong Premier League champions after a comprehensive 2-0 win over BC Rangers on Sunday, as they clinched their first title in three years with four matches to play.
The Bluebirds went into the contest at Tseung Kwan O Stadium with the trophy already well within reach, having already built an unassailable lead over second-placed Lee Man thanks to a dominant undefeated league run.
Leonardo Martinez Ortiz put the runaway leaders ahead in the 38th minute with a close-range finish in front of an empty goal, after a cross from Ruslan Mingazov.
Anson Wong all but sealed the victory for the Bluebirds by smashing home a right-footed drive in the 95th minute to kick off celebrations for head coach Inigo Calderon, who is in his maiden season in charge of the club.
The triumph lifted Kitchee to 50 points in the table after 18 games, 14 points clear of second-placed Lee Man.
It marks an incredible debut season for Calderon, as they prepare to compete in the AFC Champions League Two next season.
