Organisers have confirmed on Wednesday that Hong Kong will once against stage the World Rugby Sevens Championships next April at the Kai Tak Sports Park, marking the SAR’s return as a key stop on the sport's global circuit.

World Rugby announced that all host cities in the 2025-26 season will retain their spots for the upcoming campaign, which serves as a crucial pathway to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

“With the race to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games beginning, the 2027 season will carry added significance as the world's best teams compete for the opportunity to reach the pinnacle tournament,” World Rugby Sevens World Series General Manager Sam Pinder wrote in a statement.

The top eight men's and women's teams will compete across six global events – starting in Dubai and ending in New York – before advancing to the three-event World Championships that kick off in the SAR.

The tournament will be held from April 9-11.
