The Hong Kong Football Festival kicked-off to a thrilling start as Inter Milan and Manchester City could not find a breakthrough after settling for a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

The contest at the packed Kai Tak Stadium on Saturday was decided by a penalty shoot-out, in which the Italian team out-classed Manchester 3-1.

In regulation time, Divin Mubama put City on the scoreboard after 14 minutes and Benjamin Pavard got the equaliser for Inter, six minutes later.

Long before the first whistle, the atmosphere was already buzzing at the nearby Kai Tak Mall, where droves of local and mainland fans queued up to grab the latest jerseys to wear inside the stadium.

The second game of the festival takes place on August 5 with Chelsea facing Juventus, in a second high-profile friendly.
