Hong Kong, China’s campaign in the BWF Badminton World Championships 2026 came to an end on Friday when women's doubles duo Lianne Yeung and Yeung Pui-lam bowed out in the quarterfinals of the tournament in New Delhi.

The world No. 20 SAR pair were unable to pull off an upset against top seeds and defending champions Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning of the national team, falling in straight games 14-21, 17-21.

With the result, the local pair have lost all five of their career head-to-head meetings against Liu and Tan.

Still, reaching the last eight marks the best-ever showing for the Hong Kong, China duo at the World Championships.

After receiving a first-round bye, the pair defeated opponents from the United States and Chinese Taipei in the subsequent rounds to secure their quarterfinal spot.
