Hong Kong, China have made a winning start at the inaugural Fifa Asean Cup, hitting four past Laos at Kai Tak Stadium on Sunday afternoon to go top of the group.

Sun Ming-him opened the scoring for the hosts with a header on 12 minutes, before Everton Camargo doubled their advantage shortly after the half-hour mark.

Dudu made it 3-0 for the SAR after the interval, and Matt Orr converted from the penalty spot in stoppage time to delight 18,873 fans who turned up.

The 4-0 win helped Hong Kong leapfrog Laos into the top spot in Group A of Division 2.

The SAR play Brunei Darussalam on Wednesday, with the group winners advancing to the final on October 3 to face the winners of Group B featuring Myanmar, Cambodia and Timor-Leste.
