The annual session of China's top political advisory body will begin on Tuesday and close a week later. The third session of the fourteenth Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference will discuss and deliberate government work reports. Spokesman Liu Jieyi said last year was critical for realising goals and tasks set forth in the fourteenth Five-Year Plan. This year will be a concluding year.

'Focus to be on stabilising sentiment and high-quality growth'  Listenfacebook
A local economics academic says he does not expect major policy shifts in the "Two Sessions" in Beijing, saying it's important for the central government to focus on stabilising sentiment and continuing with high-quality growth. The country will announce its economic growth target for the year at Wednesday's opening of China's top legislature -- the National People's Congress. Ho Lok-sang, an adjunct research professor from Lingnan University, said he's forecasting a GDP growth target of five percent, similar to last year's. Professor Ho also says he doesn't expect policy surprises, as the country moves towards another five-year plan due to start next year. He spoke to Frank Yung about what to look out for in this year's meetings.
