A shaky ceasefire has taken hold between Israel and Iran, under pressure from US President Donald Trump. It raises hopes for an end to the biggest-ever military confrontation between the Middle East arch-foes. Jamie Clarke reports:

Both Iran and Israel sent signals that the 12-day air war had concluded after President Trump scolded them for violating the ceasefire he announced on Tuesday. RTHK's Washington correspondent, Simon Marks, said the ceasefire came as a pleasant surprise for many. He also told Janice Lo that Trump should take credit for the truce, and that he was still very much "hand in glove" with Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu:

Book Fair to promote food culture

Organisers of the upcoming Hong Kong Book Fair are hopeful that total visitor numbers this year will surpass the record of 1.04 million that was set in 2018. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council says the annual event will be held from July 16-22 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. In sports news, the third and final day of qualifying round action for the snooker 2025 Wuhan Open has wrapped in the English city of Leicester. Hong Kong, China's Marco Fu will be in action on Wednesday against six-time ranking event winner Stephen Maguire, as he aims to qualify for September's British Open. He made it into round 64 after staging an impressive 5-3 victory over world number 16 Chris Wakelin.
